Today we note the passing of three term New York Governor Mario Cuomo, a giant in the world of politics in our country. Out of an abundance of respect, I will not debate his time as governor, but to say this son of immigrants made his mark on the American political scene to be sure. As a side note however, I did read the president’s press release on Governor Cuomo’s passing, and found in it the nucleus of where the Progressive Left truly goes off the rails ideologically. “His own story taught him that as Americans, we are bound together as one people, and our country’s success rests on the success of all of us, not just a fortunate few,” Obama said. Well there it is, the politics of division and redistribution masquerading as “inclusion and fairness”. Sadly, our chief executive omits the very necessary “success” of the individual first as the proverbial cornerstone for the national success he speaks of.
And so I suppose that in terms of ideology we needn’t look beyond the posthumously given remarks of a true “Progressive champion”, to find the root of the Lefts misguided and collective ignorance.
