Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller is a decorated war hero who also received the Purple Heart after being shot in Vietnam. He’s a registered Republican who promoted the WMD hypothesis to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, which we now know turned out to be a fairly accurate assessment. His service and career are essentially unblemished, thus I’ve been hesitant to jump on the hate Mueller band-wagon.
However the laws governing his appointment as Special Counsel as well as his submission of findings concerning collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia and the broader obstruction of justice assertion, seem to indicate he favors partisan political interference over equal justice under the law.
In his “retirement” speech recently, a clearly stressed Mueller appeared to abdicate his duties to Congress, that they should pursue a hoax perpetrated by certain political types in very powerful positions unwilling to accept the will of the American people in 2016. In an absolute mangling of the role and reasoning of the Special Counsel’s Office, Mueller turned “insufficient evidence” into “not innocent”, ignored real Russian collusion with the Clinton Campaign and basically green-lighted impeachment hearings while washing his hands of the whole sorted affair.
To be sure, I dread impeachment for our successful president and his family. Nevertheless, it will likely mean the end of the Democrat-Party as we know it, and not a moment too soon.
