“Inclusion” and the modern HOA…

Share

The whole DEI woke culture model has crept into just about every aspect of our lives these days, sometimes with less than desirable consequences, and home owners associations, “HOA”, are not exempt. So today I’m going to write about the politics of “DEI” as it relates to these private governing bodies in the United States, and how they’re looking more and more like our government itself, grievously political, and anything but “inclusive”.

Seems like every other day we hear of some rogue group attacking residents over their flags or other patriotic symbols placed on their homes or in their yards, actions that just fifteen or twenty years ago would have been unheard of and considered outrageous. With that said, I’m going to examine my own 55+ community in Central Florida, and how, in the absence of decent folks who simply don’t have the time or personal resources to serve, a vacuum is created if you will, which is often filled with others having ulterior motives and who seek to impose their own ideas about “community” on residents. Regrettably, these individuals lack even the most basic understanding of an individual’s rights, regardless of where they call home in America.

Now I don’t say this lightly, as some of these organizations wield a great deal of power, often times using it to influence the debate, intimidate for effect, and manipulate or even ignore written contracts to suit their own agendas. This can be problematic when an HOA’s “interpretation” of rules and regulations isn’t necessarily a good fit with the Constitutional rights afforded all Americans. Moreover, when their efforts are supported and even joined by the administrative/representative body for the property, (as well as sympathetic/antagonistic residents), it can become nefarious and even criminal if not checked.

Now I’m not going to debate the need for community standards, say in the form of things like speed limits and traffic control on the property proper of any gated or otherwise private neighborhood. And I would agree that some uniformity for the purposes of ascetics and property value considerations can be contractually written and enforced by a fair and equitable ownership and/or HOA. (Although this can be complicated by who’s actually/contractually responsible for those tasks). However, when “elected” individuals charged with ensuring the good of the overall community abuse their responsibilities and authority, and manipulate well-intentioned rules and regulations in order to suit their own political views and biases, this becomes that slippery slope which can lead to misunderstandings, dissension, and even unwanted publicity, fighting and lawsuits.

So when my neighbor, a retired public servant with over three decades of seniority and service to his community, installed a beautiful flag poll on his lot, and displayed the American “Stars and Stripes” above the Gadsden Flag, (dont tread on me), was informed by mail that his Gadsden Flag was not in keeping with “community standards”, I was both surprised and, well, “offended”, LOL. The property manager even sited a rule having to do with “signs and displays” as the foundation for the notice, explaining that if my neighbor didn’t remove his flag, he would be sanctioned. Wow! This clown even had the temerity to brag about he felt the community was one of inclusion??? What a character.

To be sure, I was keenly aware of the historical ignorance associated with the notice and its author, and I knew immediately why it was sent. So in the interest of time,,,,, some attention starved little busy body apparently took offense to the flag and complained to the HOA and/or the administration for the community. Oh heck, maybe the HOA ignoramuses themselves took offense. Regardless, after speaking with my neighbor, who was understandably upset, I decided enough was enough. Enough of triggered fools throwing around words like “inclusion” when they apparently understand little or nothing of what the word means, nor are they willing to extend that consideration to anyone who does not believe as they do. Enough of HOA’s, property owners, business owners, social media platforms, their proprietors/administrators, or anybody else for that matter whose closet agendas are to bend and twist the history and truth of this great republic to suit their own personal insecurities, politics or persuasions. Enough! If inclusion is your flippin’ song, then you’d better be prepared to sing it loud and for everyone.

My neighbor further explained that he did send an email to the property manager asking for specific regulations and supported violations related to the flag, but received only lip service from him and the assurance that he himself enjoyed the support of the “HOA” on the matter. Big surprise… For my part, I posted a rebuttal of sorts on one of the community Facebook pages and had received mostly support for my neighbor, until it was taken down by moderators who are apparently content with subjugation and the “go along to get along mentality”. And then there’s always the strange but committed “TDS” folks, hell bent on the destruction of all things “MAGA” at the expense of this country and their children’s futures if need be. On a side note, It’s continues to amaze me how the simple concept, “Make America Great Again” really gets under some folks skin. In my view, nothing could sound more Unpatriotic than to disagree with that statement. We’ve come a long way away from “The Greatest Generation”, people. So there’s that…

To be sure, modern historical revisionism is a chosen tool of the left, and is alive and well on social media and the cable “news” propaganda networks. And they are quick to point out how some hate groups have manipulated the true intent and meaning of the Gadsden Flag and other representative American symbols, even going so far as to attach it to the now debunked events of January 6th 2020. This is also true of leftist hate groups. However, it will always be incumbent upon freedom loving Americans to do their homework and understand real history. And while I’m not sugar coating all of that history, as there were certainly bumps along the way, the absolute disgraceful way some in this country are portraying “We the People” and our patriotism has now become a rallying cry. The days are fast coming to an end when the drunk on power charlatans, using catch words like “inclusion”, and who claim the “woke” authoritative high ground, will be able to force their agenda without significant legal and other push back. “We the People” are awake and paying attention now. In the simplest terms, “challenge accepted”.

So as my neighbor and I gear up for what will likely be a protracted battle, with social and political implications for the community we live in down the road, I’m asking all who are reading this today and feel as I do, that our republic has been highjacked by revisionists of a DEI persuasion, and who have every intention to reign in your rights and freedoms if they don’t approve of them, to stand your ground and stand with us. This may be only one of many catalysts which are coming soon, that will set the wheels of change in motion once again in America. But I tell you here and now, the time for action is at hand… Enough!

God bless you patriots who love your country, and God please bless the United States of America. We need it…
